Bigger Picture Questing – Four sites, 99 reviews

Image 1: A Venn Diagram showing Sunday Roasts by Blog

The Quest for a Sunday Roast is not, by any means, the only source for information on where in London to enjoy Yorkshires that yield to the fork, a good Bloody Mary, or a sticky Eton Mess. There are several other blogs that deserve more than a mention here – they deserve equal billing. We are massive fans of them all, and are always reading them for pointers toward a better style of reviewing, as well as places to go. As soon as you are finished here you must check out these superstars of gastronomie:

  1. ROASTED SUNDAYS – A small group of foodie guys with an eye for a photograph. 19 Reviews in London, and some wonderful snaps. Their skills with the camera put our standard landscape iPhone snaps to shame.
  2. SUNDAY ROAST – The Islington posse, focusing mostly in the North of the city with 24 Reviews. Never before has the food in an area been so well documented.
  3. BEST SUNDAY ROAST - 13 Reviews in London and a few for those who are willing to travel further afield for their lunch (Guildford, Essex etc) We just love John and his Mrs’ site.
  4. QUEST FOR A SUNDAY ROAST - Us, you are already here, you bought the T-shirt, drank the KoolAid and are aware of our 43 Reviews.

To best illustrate the relationship between the four main blogging sites (a massive 99 Reviews with only 5 dupes) I decided on pooling all our information on this page with the hope that, if you are interested in heading out at lunchtime on a Sunday, no matter where you are in London, that a local hostelry is detailed here, written up, and reviewed honestly and candidly by one group or another.

Now there are crossovers as shown in the following Venn diagram.

The crossovers, as I know you are interested, are as follows:

Between the QUEST and the BEST and ROASTED SUNDAYS

Between the QUEST and SUNDAY-ROAST and ROASTED SUNDAYS

Between the QUEST and SUNDAY-ROAST
Between QUEST and ROASTED SUNDAYS
Now, I think the best way to convey the information is to show this by postcode. This should be easy enough to follow – presuming you know where you are. If you don’t, I am not sure any of us can be made to feel responsible for that. So here it is, nearly 100 reviews of Sunday pub lunches across this great city.

This is quite inspirational. And we must 1. do more roasts and 2. put prices on the review page. Thanks to the others for the insight.

Those apparently gaps are because there is neither an ‘NE’ nor an ‘S’ postcode district in London, apparently. I’m sure we’ve all reviewed pubs which straddle two zones – in our case there’s N16 (Stoke Newington) which buts right up against E5 (Clapton) and so on.

Ok! I have been schooled. Thank, Alyssa. NE and S are not London postcodes, they are Newcastle and Sheffield, apparently.

So, base your use of the grid on the postcode you are in. As the wonderful Miss Sundayroasts correctly put it, N covers NE and SE and SW covers sarf of the river.
