Francoise & Darren moved to London in 2008 and have embraced the good and the bad of the city to make it our home. One of the ways we tried to make the city ours was to eat a Sunday Roast lunch (an English tradition) at pubs across the city. Since the early days we have been writing out our reviews and have extended the group to include a number of friends, who all participate in this blog with their comments and reviews. It is just a bit of fun, but you have to agree, finding the perfect Sunday Roast is essential.
Reviews will be made based on whatever is ordered, so if we do overdose on Roasts, we’ll assume that whatever we do select reasonably represents the pub’s offerings.
Each contributor will award the venue two scores*
- Food: this score is exclusively for the food
- Environment: this score is for everything else; the venue’s atmosphere, decor, service, toilets, board games, etc.
Scores are awarded on a scale of 0-5, where 5 is considered extraordinary, 2.5 is profoundly average, and a zero is, well, traumatic.
Contributors’ scores will be averaged to determine both category-specific scores for both Food and Environment and the Total Score.
*Note: Prior to June 2009, contributors awarded only a food score.
The Other Questers
The others have been gained over time, friends from the US, friends of friends, workmates past and present. And every one of them a fan of the great British pub lunch.
We are not the only Sunday Pub Roast blog out there. There are three others of note and two others we list here.
For a view from Ealing and out West John and his wife blog about their Sunday roast expeditions here.
While Lyssa and her crew in Islington, just north of us, blog about their North London eats here. A lot of crossover with ours, like two Glen A Larsson TV shows that share characters.
Please check them out.
